Guardianage
(Sometimes spelt guardienage, guardiennage or guardiannage!)

Yacht Management | Remote Systems Monitoring | Moorings | Other Yacht Services

Our standard weekly guardianage checks cover the following (where applicable):

  • Water ingress (salt and fresh)
  • Insects
  • Battery levels (voltage and water)
  • Chafe on lines and position of chafe gear
  • Proximity of other anchored/moored vessels
  • Operation of bilge pumps
  • Mildew
  • Chafe or damage to canvas
  • Any other causes for concern

The boat will also be aired for one day each week, or we use silica nodamp dehumidifier crystals.

We can run engines & generators, pump heads and operate systems should you wish.  Additional checks can be arranged – we can work with you to set up a schedule of checks and system runs which works best for you.

We will provide transport ashore as you leave and return to the boat if necessary, and can look after any final tasks as required – for example the last bag of laundry, cleaning, fresh water flush and stow the outboard.
We spend some time with you before you leave covering all aspects of the operation of the essential systems, batteries, location of second anchors, bilge pumps etc.

We email you a monthly Boat Check Report listing the checks undertaken and the status of the boat and systems including battery voltage levels.

Any concerns or queries will be raised with you by email to establish action to be taken.

Our services are recognized by leading insurers such as Admiral and Pantaenius, who may insist on professional guardianage for boats left in the water for any significant period.

The best storage option for your boat will depend on the time of year, type of boat, length of absence and any maintenance or refit projects planned.  Similarly, how to best ‘summerise’ your boat will depend on the systems you have, how it is being stored and for what period … we are happy to advise.

Storm and Hurricane Preparations

All boats under our guardianage will be prepared appropriately by us should a Storm or Hurricane Watch be set for Grenada.  We may take some precautions at an earlier stage, or if we expect high winds - for example removing canvas.

Our general policy is that boats are moored or anchored in safe locations, so we do not need to move boats if a Storm or Hurricane Watch is set.

Owners considering storage in Le Phare Bleu Marina from June to November should review the Marina’s hurricane plan which can be found on the Le Phare Bleu website.

We will discuss appropriate measures with you when we set up a guardianage contract, and ask that you tell us if your insurance company has any specific requirements.
