Woburn RC School have yet again organized a raffle to raise funds for their insurance premium. This is an annual effort for the school as insurance is not provided centrally for government schools. Most schools are not insured and after Hurricane Ivan in 2004, the 3 to 7 year olds of the village of Woburn were back in proper classrooms whilst other schools were closed or operating from temporary accommodation and tents. As Mark and I had a 4 year old boy at the school at that time, this is something we are still very grateful for.
The good news is they have sold all their raffle tickets and the insurance premium is secured. The bad news is that other plans have to be shelved as there is a limit to the funds that can be raised within the village.
Island Dreams have purchased raffle tickets and all current clients are entered – prizes range from a dinner for two at Le Phare Bleu to a gift voucher for Columbian Emeralds. We would like to raise some additional funds so the school can make progress with its plans to re-surface the school yard in preparation for swings, slides and other equipment.
